This project aims to bridge the gap between research and humanitarian action by disseminating and discussing the research findings from the research on Sudanese women refugees in eastern Chad to humanitarian actors and the donor community. Key insights from this project will contribute to the translation of the Policy Brief in Arabic and the production of multilingual thematic fact sheets. Long-term partnerships with implementing organizations will sustain the integration of research into practice, enhancing the design of conflict-sensitive, gender-responsive interventions.

SIPRI and its Chadian partner, BUCOFORE, conducted research in eastern Chad in April and May 2024. Findings were gathered via perception surveys, qualitative interviews and focus group discussions. This research examines the impact of armed conflict and displacement on women and girls in Chad, as well as the extent to which the humanitarian response in eastern Chad meets the needs and expectations of women and their communities. The policy brief summarizes the main findings presented in the SIPRI report ‘Through their Eyes: Experiences of Displaced Sudanese Women and Girls in Eastern Chad’, published in March 2025 .
